Nusaybah Bint Ka'ab رضي الله عنها - The Fearless Defender of Faith

Join us for an inspiring exploration of the life and legacy of Nusaybah bint Kaʿab al-Ansariyah رضي الله عنها (Umm ʿUmārah). One of the most courageous and devoted women in Islamic history, known for her unwavering faith, bravery, and resilience.

She stood beside the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in the Battle of Uhud, defending him with unshakable bravery while others retreated. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Wherever I turned, to the left or the right, I saw her fighting for me.”

Through hardship, loss, and victory, Nusaybah رضي الله عنها embodied true faith (īmān), sacrifice, and trust in Allah. Her story continues to inspire Muslims to this day — especially in her roles as a mother, warrior, and pioneer for women’s participation in the early Muslim community.

This event will highlight:

  • Nusaybah رضي الله عنها conversion to Islam and early pledge at al-ʿAqabah

SPEAKER PROFILE:

Ustadha Ameena Blake (Sheffield, UK)

Ustadha Ameena is a Muslim scholar with a Masters degree in Islamic Studies. Other qualifications include: BA English Studies, PG in Teaching & MSc in Leadership and Management.

She is a Director of the Eden House UK (EHUK) - A women's refuge project. She also serves as a Chaplain in The University of Sheffield, South Yorkshire Police & lectures in Islamic Studies at Markfield Institute of Higher Education.

Ustadha teaches across the globe at, courses & conferences as well as on social media and is a regular on Islam Channel. She is an instructor for Al Balagh Academy, Roots Academy and the Lead Program.

Ustadha has sat on several Mosque boards over the past two decades and served as ASG of the Muslim Council of Britain as well as sitting as an Islamic advisor on various platforms.

She was given the Beacon Mosque, Most impactful Aalimah award in 2022 and is part of the Sheffield University Inspirational Women 2024
